A Day on the Lake with Sarah

Sarah has been out with me a few times the past week or so to prefish for tournaments as well as just for fun. She is settling in well on the boat and has reeled in a few lunkers while she was at it. Check out the pics below and let us know your thoughts.

Just Another Day

We have been scolded in the past for not taking any new pictures. Problem with taking lots of pictures is you have to post them if you want people to see them. Here is a hodge podge from the last week or two.

Sarah is starting to get used to her new bed but there can still be the occasional power struggle. Below is a picture after mom and dad finally win one.

Every year about this time the turtles from the pond make their way into the yard to dig up our flowerbeds and other spots in the yard to deposit their eggs. This year has been no different as several have been seen digging away. It really is fascinating to watch. Sarah also thinks so as the pictures below will attest.

So fascinating in fact that she went to the garage to get her chair to sit and watch the progress. (turtles are a little slow after all)

I want to say thanks to all our subscribers. It is nice to know so many people are interested in how our little girl is growing. If you aren't a subscriber think about signing up on the left to be notified by email every time there is a new post here on Sarah's blog.

I have a few more pics of Sarah out Fishing with me but I will save them for the next post. If you want a preview however, check out the fishing blog.

Bed Time Fun

Sarah is getting big and recently decided that she no longer wanted to sleep in a crib. We have moved her to a mattress on the floor while I finish her big girl bed. Although it looks awful pink...it is actually pretty "green". Made of reclaimed wood and covered with no VOC paint. Looks pretty good if I dont say so myself.

As part of the night time routine tonight mommy and Sarah shared a little time painting each others toe nails. Sarah was sooooo proud.

Pictured below is Sarah showing off a new pair of PJs.

Thanks for stopping by. I will be posting a few more pics on Sarah's home page in the next couple days. Make sure you stop by over there.

Just another Day for Sarah

Things have been a little hectic for Mom and Dad but pretty slow for Sarah. We traveled to Michigan last week for a visit with Grandma and Grandpa. Sarah enjoyed a visit to the Yacht club (who doesn't) where she sat at the bar and sipped a cold drink (ice water) and ate popcorn. She was pretty upset when a couple across the bar tried to stop her from eating some popcorn off the floor. Complete with pouting lip and a tear or two for affect. Peace was restored when the gentleman came over with two quarters and offered them as a peace offering. Sarah yanked them from his hands and gave them to Grandma for safe keeping.

The weather has gotten nice and Sarah will no longer wear socks. She also has mastered opening the back door and comes and goes at will through that door. The baby gate installed at the stairs off the deck is the only thing that keeps her from chasing the baby ducks around the pond. Yes the ducks and geese have hatched their babies already and they were spotted this weekend for the first time.

We will be headed to Michigan again this week to attend a funeral unfortunately, but that means Sarah will get a chance to play some more with her cousins. They get along fabulously so that will be nice. She will also get to see family she hasn't seen since she was just a few months old. Hopefully we can snap a few pictures and get them up here for everyone.

Spring fun outdoors in the sun

The weather has been unseasonably warm the last week or so. That has allowed us to get outside and enjoy some fresh air. It has also allowed a trip or two in the boat to get the dust off and get ready for fishing season. Sarah was out with me the other day getting the boat ready so we could take Mommy for a ride when she got home. Sarah loves going for a boat ride and asks for it every day since she can see the boat in the driveway from her changing table. I snapped a couple quick pics of her that I thought were cute so figured I would share.

She was ready to go!

A Couple More Hilton Head Shots

It snowed here today in Minneapolis. Not enough to stick but still a far cry from the nice weather we were enjoying a few days ago in South Carolina. I was pulling the vacation pictures off the camera and though I would share a couple more of Sarah.

We spent one morning, Just Daddy and Sarah walking around a discovery center on the island. They had several board walks that wondered over and into the salt water marshes that make up a portion of the northern shore of the island. The picture below was taken out on one of those board walks.

There was a little breeze.

The one below captures how hard it is to get a good shot of a two year old. This is what happens when you pull out a camera and tell Sarah to say cheese.

Next time you see a good picture of her you will know how hard it really was to get that shot.

Thanks for looking. make sure you subscribe to the blog if you haven't already and feel free to check out my fishing blog. I have some unique content planed for the coming months.

Thanks

Soaking Up Some Carolina Sun

It was a long cold winter in Minnesota. Lots of days were too cold to even think about playing outside. We packed the bags and headed down to Hilton Head Island this week to visit with Grandma and Grandpa Clark. Weather should be in the 70's with plenty of sun, nice beaches and basically a lot nicer weather than the muddy 40's and 50's of spring time Minnesota. The pool is right outside our door so Sarah has been able to ask when ever she wants to go swimming. She is also enjoying the use of her Dora sun glasses. Below I have posted a few pics of the fun. I am sure we will have a few more before the trip is through.

Enjoy!

Sarah takes in her first NBA game

I picked up a couple tickets to the Minnesota Timberwolves VS. the LA Lakers game for last night. A fellow stay at home dad had them and wasn't able to use them so I figured Andrea and I could get out and have a little date night. As it turned out we were unable to get a babysitter on late notice so we decided to bring Sarah along. I didn't pay anything for the tickets so worst case scenario was we would waste 10$ on parking and only get to watch a few minutes of ball.

The seats were upper level so we knew there would probably be plenty of room for Sarah to move around and not have to worry about her spilling her water or throwing her hot dog at some unlucky fan.

As it turned out...She loved it. We sat her in her own seat and handed her a bag of popcorn and she just stared in amazement at the sights before her. She watched as the players ran up and down the court. danced to the music with the dance team, and especially loved the Kodak zeppelin that flew around dropping prizes to the crowd. She kept yelling to the guy in the rafters to drop it back down and fly it around some more.

(The pictures aren't great but it was a little too dark for the camera phone)

After watching the home team keep up with the heavily favored Lakers, Sarah even helped as best she could by howling with the crowd during Laker free throws. We all had a great time but half way through the 4th period it got a little too far past Sarah's bedtime and she was done. We called it a night and started the walk back to the car. Definitely a worthwhile trip and she only threw one sock down a row or two.

I cant wait till the twins are playing day games in the new stadium. I think Sarah and I will be catching a few games.

Getting Big and Learning Lots

Grandma and Grandpa Smith spent the last couple weeks at our place. Sarah got to spend lots of time screaming "papa" and playing with Grandma. One day Grandma joined us at a childrens production of Good Night Moon. Sarah is a dancing fool and stood up multiple times to dance with the actors as they performed on stage. We were a little worried about weather or not she would make it through a full hour long play but she did great and seemed to love it. It was very well done and the adults enjoyed the show as well.

One day last week we took a trip over to Kiddywampus in St Louis Park. It is an interactive toy store where lots of the toys are open and out to be played with. They also have an art room where the kids can paint and draw on the walls and do other craft type projects. We lucked out and hit it on a free day so Sarah got to spill paint all over papa and it didn't cost daddy anything. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of the adventure but everyone had a good time. Grandma even bought a few uniques gifts.

This past weekend the sun came out and it warmed up for the first time in months. We took advantage and put sarah in some skates for the first time. I shoveled off the pond and the family went out for a skate. Andrea got herself some new skates for Christmas as well so it was a try out for those too. We are unable to post video on this blog but I can at my outdoors blog so jump over there and check out the video of Mommy and Sarah skating (http://blog.sportsmithfishing.com/). It is very cute.
