Backyard Summer Fun

Sarah only has a week of school left and we have started to enjoy summer like weather. We slid my grandfathers aluminum fishing boat into the pond and have been chasing turtles around. Both Will and Sarah have really enjoyed it and it definitely brings back memories for me of times spent playing around in a row boat.
Yesterday we had a very productive outing on the pond. After pushing our way out through the cat tails we quickly caught a turtle and had to push our way back in to show mommy and get a couple pics.

Above you see Sarah with her trophy. Below we are back out preparing for a turtle release.

A few days ago during a trip out on the pond we noticed an egg sitting on a muskrat house that in the past a goose was sitting on. We left it alone in case mom came back. Yesterday we rowed over to see if the egg was still there and it was no longer on the nest and had found its way into the water. I assume it was a bad egg since it was floating in the weeds as well as the fact that we had seen the mommy goose with 5 little babies swimming in the pond earlier. We picked up the egg and brought it back for pictures too. I was surprised how big a goose egg is. heavy too. Sarah was very proud and made a little nest for it.

Summer should be fun this year. Stay tuned for more pics and stories.

Sarah Casts Her Way to Headlines

Sarah and I made it out to the Minnesota Bass Expo last weekend. Dressed in pretty much all pink (like always) she was a real hit. At a show with mostly men donning fishing jerseys or some other sponsor promoting, corporate logo apparel, a little girl in Pink with a big smile and plenty of energy stands out pretty well. Add a cute pink fishing rod that she won at one of the first booths we stopped at and you have a quite the picture of cute.

We stopped at the Women Anglers of MInnesota booth and Sarah closed her eyes to pick a bobber out of a big cooler full of bobbers. She choose well because she won a nice little pink spin cast rod. She was so excited. As we walked around after that, every booth we stopped at either gave her something pink or something else that she could use to complete her setup. She ended up with a pink topwater bait, A bag of soft plastics, a quick tie lure clip thingy, a small plano tackle box, stickers etc, etc.

While practicing her casting at the Minnesota BASS Federation casting for kids booth, a reporter stopped and talked to us and snapped some shots. As you can guess, she made the paper. Check the link.

She did great and we had a blast. I cant wait to take her out to use the new pole.

Warm Fall Means Fun In The Sun

It has been a very warm and dry fall and Sarah has been taking advantage of it. She has learned how to pump while on the swing and has been spending lots of time in the back yard practicing her new skill (daddy says yeah no more "push me, push me...").

We did the farm thing to get our Halloween pumpkin and went up to the lake for our annual family picture. Here are a few shots from that trip.

Pony Ride, She is an old pro now as you can tell from her expression.

Feeding the baby animals was a big hit.

Will enjoys a good swing now and then too.

Sarah calls our lake property our "camp out spot". Here she is enjoying climbing around on one of our several log piles at the camp out spot.

Thanks for stopping by. We will try to update the sites and get more pics up of both kids soon.

Just a quick little touch base

Summer flew by and with all the fun, we haven't been real good about updating the blog. Sarah started school again this week. Half day, 3 days a week.  Here is a pic from her first day back. If you haven't seen them lately, the kids are getting big.

Will turned one today. Grandma and Grandpa Clark were in town last week so Will got a little cake early.

A bath was a must as you can imagine. He gets his hair line from the Smith men but he is starting to get a little more. He is looking pretty cool in the pic below.

Daddy had the Minnesota State Tournament of Champions labor day week and the whole family got to spend a week up north. Sarah enjoyed watching all the anglers bringing in fish at weigh in. The pic below is from day one.

We will try to get a few more pics and stories up in the next few weeks.

Thanks!

Spring Update and Birthday Fun

Well Sarah is 4 now. Lots of fun was had with both sets of grandparents in attendance for the big day. The neighbor kids came over too and lots of presents were opened. Thanks to everyone who came to the party or sent gifts. She loved it all and is already talking about who she wants to come to her 5 birthday.

Weather has been a little yucky lately. We need it to warm up so we can spend more time outside. We have gotten out when we can but yesterday we made cupcakes. Daddy isnt sure how many more days like that he can handle.

Will got his second tooth now. No crawling yet but he can pretty much roll or twist his way to things he wants. Wont be long now though. He is growing fast and is a serious chunk to carry around. The chiropractor will tell you too.

Happy Easter to all our readers!

Kid Updates

Sarah is doing well in swim class. Her class was recently bumped to the next level. She is swimming with a boy a year older than her so I guess she is doing well for her age. She is swimming short distances with out help and is still completely fearless. She will jump in the deep end and laugh the whole time. She dives with her goggles for toys on the bottom and is working on the forward crawl. Wont be long and she will be a better swimmer than daddy.
We just had parent teacher conferences for her two day preschool. She is doing well there too although still needs to work on disruptive behavior. She is 3 after all, it is what she does best as far as I am concerned.
She was telling me the other day how Jayce, a boy in her class, wants to marry her. She "isn't sure". Sent a little chill down my spine.

Will is 6 mo old now. He got several shots late last week. He has a bit of a cold right now and got his first tooth last night. All in all a perfect storm for crankiness. Not much sleep lately around our house. Every parent should really think about buying stock in Tylenol.

Till next time.

Sarah Dance Video (experiment)

We got a video camera a while back and the videos of the kids have started to pile up. I decided to work on sharing these videos with family and friends and here is my first attempt. If it works, you are in for a treat. We have plenty of them to share. Make sure you let us know your thoughts.

This little number was from last night (2/16/11). A Valentine's day number for moms and dads.

Holiday pics

It has been busy here but everyone is good. The holidays were quiet with just the four of us staying home to celebrate. Below are a few pics of the christmas morning as well as Sarah's first school. pic.
Happy New Year everyone and Enjoy!

Halloween Fun

Sarah has been busy doing lots of fun things for halloween. With a party at Dance class, School, and the Lookout there has been lots of candy collected. Not to mention trick or treating.

There was also another trip to a pumpkin patch and corn maze as well. Lots of fun. The twins from next door came along to the corn maze. Lots of chasing through the corn.

Will of course came along for the fun although he sleeps through most of it still (notice him strapped to daddy's chest). He is growing and is over 11 pounds now. He is a pretty good sleeper and mommy and daddy are managing the night time fairly well (all things considered).

Of course football season is in full swing. Both of the family teams are doing well this season although the trend may not be the same. Sunday usually means a few hours watching the games as a family. Sides are starting to form.

Thanks for checking in on us. More to come.
